We should not have to remove an item and then flip it upside down in order to get even toasting.I would like to think that overall Krups merchandise is good quality but since this is the first time we had purchased a Krups anything you could not prove anything good about their products by us.Unless something totally proves us wrong we will never buy a Krups kitchen item again. My husband and I purchases this toaster in white a about a year and 1/2 ago and I will say we have been very unhappy overall with it. It looks great as far as appearance goes and for the first couple of months we were not thrilled but not exactly unhappy with it either, but within a relatively short period of time the right 2 slots quit popping up when in use and both sides slots quit toasting evenly.
I have purchased a Cuisinart 4 slice toast at half the price and it's working fine. How much will it cost me if another problem occurs after the warranty expires next month. I decided not to spend another $20 to have it repaired again.
This is not an inexpensive toaster, but I thought it was worth it until one of the levers broke in June. I called the company to see what they would do considering this is the second problem which has occurred while the toaster is still under the one year warranty. I purchased the Krups FEM4B 4-Slice Toaster in January 2008.
They said I would have to send it to the same authorized repair service - at my expense; no consideration for a second problem. Beware to prospective buyers. Since it was still under warranty I called the company and was told that I had to ship it at my expense (almost $20) to an authorized repair service which I did.
It worked fine until a week ago when the toasting elements on one set of slots failed.
Good Luck. It toasts just right, fits all size toasts and I love the feature that allows you to pop up toast higher in order to get it out easier. Have had this toaster for a month. Love it.
USUALLY DISREGARD THE MOST FULSOME PRAISE AND VIRULENT OBJECTIONS. I DO APPRECIATE ALL THESE REVIEWS. I READ THEM ALL AND JUDGE THE PRODUCT ACCORDINGLY.
Lever won't stay down if toaster isn't plugged in which is a good thing if it has to stay out on the counter with kids around. This is a great toaster. Great with bagels.
